The Heritage Retreat: in the centre of New Zealand's North Island

The Heritage Retreat is situated in the centre of New Zealand's North Island, at 257 Taupahi Rd (opposite Kaimanawa Lodge), Turangi.

The township of Turangi is nestled on the southern shores of Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest lake, and surrounded by an abundance of outdoor and leisure opportunities. Famous for its fishing, the Tongariro River is less than 5 minutes walk away; here you can stroll across a swing bridge, access bush walking tracks and cast your fly in the Major Jones Pool. If golf is on your agenda, it's an easy walk to the local golf course.

At the heart of New Zealand's North Island, Turangi offers the choice of day trips to many attractions, such as Taupo, Rotorua, Waitomo, Mount Maunganui, Napier and Wanganui. In less than 30 minutes driving time you could be skiing, enjoying the wonders of a World Heritage National Park, boating or fishing on New Zealand's largest lake, browsing the diverse range of boutique shops in Taupo, and finish your day with a relaxing soak in Tokaanu's Geothermal Hot Pools, five minutes from Heritage Retreat.
